Annual Awards
ASBH invites you to recognize leaders
in the fields of bioethics and medical
humanities by nominating them for an award.
ASBH recognizes accomplishments for lifetime
work and distinguished service. Nominations
can be submitted by any ASBH member and
self nominations are accepted. The awards
will be presented in October during the
ASBH annual meeting in San Diego, CA.
Lifetime
Achievement Award: Recognizes
outstanding contributions and significant
publications that have helped shape the
direction of the fields of bioethics and
the medical humanities. The recipient
agrees to make a major presentation at
the ASBH Annual Meeting.
Distinguished
Service Award: Recognizes outstanding
and dedicated service to ASBH. The award
is presented to an individual who has
advanced the mission of ASBH in a significant
and lasting way.
Cornerstone
Award: Recognizes outstanding
contributions by an institution that has
helped shape the direction of the fields
of bioethics and/or the medical humanities.
Qualifying institutions are more than
30 years old. The Cornerstone Award is
not an annual award and is awarded at
the discretion of the ASBH Board of Directors.
The
Awards Committee will consider all complete
nominations. Nominations must include
the nominee’s name and current professional
affiliation as well as the reasons for
making the nomination. Nominations must
be postmarked no later than Monday, March
1, 2010 and sent to the ASBH national
office to asaylor@connect2amc.com.

ASBH
solicits your nominations for candidates
for the positions of Secretary, Director-at-Large
(3) and Nominating Committee (2). The
elected candidates will take office at
the 2010 ASBH Annual Meeting.
To
be eligible, nominees must be active voting
members. Self-nominations are welcome.
All nominations must include the nominee’s
name and current professional affiliation,
suggested elected position, and the reasons
for nominating the individual. Nominees
must be current members in good standing.

The
ASBH 12th Annual Meeting will take place
October 21-24, 2010 at the Hilton San
Diego Bayfront Hotel in San Diego, CA.
The theme for the meeting is Health and
Community. The Call for Proposals will
open in December on the ASBH web site
at www.asbh.org.
The
2010 Annual Meeting Co-chairs, Julie Aultman,
PhD, and Inmaculada de Melo-Martin, PhD,
provide information on the 2010 meeting
as well as how members can get involved
in the Annual Meeting.
Are

involved in the Society? Serving
a an abstract reviewer for the Annual
Meeting is a great way to volunteer! To
volunteer to serve as a reviewer for the
2010 Call for Proposals, please visit
the Members' only section of the ASBH
website. The deadline to volunteer
for the 2010 Annual Meeting is November
30. ASBH thanks those who have volunteered
their time!
